If you have ever wondered why the French are not happy, it's because they simply cannot pronounce that word. They are hindered by the "h" sound, absent from the French language.
The French may inhabit the most exquisite land in the world, but what good is that if they cannot be happy? The best they can do is "appie". This turns out to be a blessing in disguise because it has allowed some clever young French entrepreneurs to launch a new brand of cidre called "appie". Oh, that is so close to apple it's cute. I happily discovered their brand today at lunch, presented with a coaster on which was inscribed:
"Don't worry, be appie!" That was the best advice I received for the day.
Thanks, Appie!
